Fieldwork supports the development of new work. At each meeting, artists show works-in-progress and exchange feedback with their peers in a format designed by artists. Many groups culminate in an informal showing open to the public, dependent upon participants' wishes. Fieldwork groups are offered in:
Dance/movement (choreography, improvisation, solo, group, all styles/genres)
Theater (plays, solos, monologues, standup, puppetry, all styles/genres)
Writing (narrative, postmodern forms, poetry, plays, short stories, memoir, novels)
Mixed disciplines (participants of different disciplines in one group!)
Live performance combined with video projection

Goals of Fieldwork
Provide artists with a safe place to present their work and receive feedback in terms that are constructive, challenging, and nurturing.
Re-energize artists in relationship to their work by having other artists respond to it, providing a new perspective.
Break through the isolation of working as an independent artist by joining others who are in a similar process of development.
Participate in an on-going deadline structure to support artists productivity.
Develop artists' abilities to articulate clearly what they perceive in others' works.
Fieldwork is offered in the fall, winter, spring, and summer. Summer Fieldwork sessions come with free space (offered on a first-come, first-served basis) for participating artists.
Fieldwork is also offered across the US through the Field Network.
Fee: $90/$65-members

"Having Fieldwork in my calendar makes me write and create.
It challenges me. When I haven't written enough or don't like what I wrote,
I am challenged to create on my feet and that often gives me great ideas
and breaks through blocks."
- Marmarra McKinney, Theater Artist
