The Field is a nonprofit performing arts organization committed to keeping New York City and our country a vibrant cultural center. Each year, The Field's programs are used by more than 1,500 performing artists in dance, theater, music, text, and performance art. With an inclusive, responsive mission that lets any interested artist participate, we are a home for both emerging and established creators. Through workshops, residencies, management training, resource guides, and more, The Field helps artists envision and establish a viable life in the arts. For audiences, The Field provides festivals where the public can see the latest in the performing arts. In addition to our home base of New York City, Field programs are sponsored by state arts councils, nonprofit organizations, and independent artists in 16 locales across the U.S.

Our programs and services help artists achieve both artistic and career goals. Field artists have been produced locally, nationally, and internationally, received support from prestigious organizations such as the Guggenheim Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, the Jerome Foundation, Mary Cary Flagler Charitable Trust, among many others, and have had their work profiled by critical articles and reviews in publications ranging from The New York Times to Dance Magazine. The Field itself has had its work recognized as well, most notably through long-term and continued funding from various organizations, including the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Department of Cultural Affairs, as well as many foundations and corporations.
