Artward Bound is a free, 10-day residency for Field members, who are individual, generative performing artists. Located in a beautiful, rural setting, away from the daily grind, Artward Bound provides an opportunity to enjoy a creative retreat with a group of fellow artists.  (If you're not currently a Field member, it's easy to join and there are many benefits.  Please contact Membership Associate Chongsi Chang [212-691-6969 x14] for more information.)  Artward Bound gives artists the chance to create new work and deepen one’s creative process; participate in Fieldwork workshops where artists exchange feedback on their developing work; and engage in group brainstorming and strategizing sessions about career issues and professional development topics.

Artward Bound is an immersive, structured experience that invites artists to live and work closely with one another, in a supportive community of peers.  While this residency provides ample time for solo reading/writing/thinking as well as opportunities to hike, swim, and relax in the sun, the success of Artward Bound relies on each participant's enthusiasm to exchange feedback, information, and ideas with the group.  Artists often find that the time allotted for focused group discussion, as well as the quality of the interaction with fellow artists, are catalysts for individual development.

The 2013 Artward Bound residency program will take place from Sunday, August 11 to Wednesday, August 21, at Earthdance (Plainfeld, MA), and will be facilitated by artist Susan Oetgen.
